Hans Johnsen–Head Coach

Coach Hans is back for his fifth year and new title of Head Coach! He became a Shark at age six, so this is his 17th year with Sideburn Run! He just completed his junior year at George Mason University as an economics major. Hans swims for GMU and at CAA Conference Championships this past year placed 10th in the 100-meter Backstroke (time: 51.1). The GMU Mens Swim Team placed 2nd overall at CAA. Hans is a graduate of Robinson Secondary School, where he swam for the 7-time state champion team. Hans’ philosophy is summer swim is all about fun, and winning is as fun as it gets! |
Kevin Vest–Assistant Coach

This is Coach Kevin’s fourth year as an assistant coach. He was captain of the W.T. Woodson High School Swim Team and also swam for Chris Natoli at Curl-Burke Swim Club. Kevin is the Virginia State 50-meter short course Freestyle record holder and Woodson’s 50-yard Freestyle record holder. His 200-meter long and short course Freestyle Relays hold both Virginia state and national records. He was a member of the 2010 Jr. National Champion Team. Kevin began swimming at age five for the Fairfax Station Fylers before joining the Sharks at age 12. Summer swimming is his passion and the main reason he swims. His favorite events are RELAYS and any kind of sprinting. Kevin is delighted to coach Sharks again this year. He is eager to encourage younger swimmers to achieve in the sport that has taught him so much about competition, commitment, teamwork and summer FUN! |
Jessey Kenah–Assistant Coach

The Sharks welcome back assistant coach–Jessey Kenah! She has been a Shark swimmer for the past 13 years. Jessey is a rising senior at Robinson Secondary School and an honors student. She has been a member of the Rams Girls Swim Team for three years. Jessey also swims at Curl-Burke Swim Club with her coach, Chris Natoli. Swimming with the Sideburn Run Sharks has been a rewarding and memorable experience for Jessey, and she knows this summer will be another great season! |
