The Best Pool Party Yet: Leaf-a-POOLooza, Dec 3!

Calling Sideburn Run Pool members young and old: Do you miss your pool friends?  Then come out Saturday afternoon, December 3, for an old-fashioned work party and hotdog fest.  We are going to create the BIGGEST LEAF PILE IN HISTORY (or at least the history of Zion Drive) right there in the parking lot. We’ll have music, hot dogs, drinks, and a firepit for roasting marshmallows when we finish.

Mark your calendars and come on out!

When: Saturday, December 3, 12-4 pm (rain date, Saturday December 10, 12-4 pm)

Where: Sideburn Run Pool

Who: YOU!  And your kids!

Why: If we get the bulk of the raking done now, we can focus our spring clean-up on repairs and upgrades. That means a nicer pool environment for you in 2012.  Plus, who can resist a giant leaf pile?  It’ll be fun!

Bring: Each person should bring a rake and a leaf-moving tool (a barrel, a bag, a tarp … something to move leaves to the BIGGEST PILE IN HISTORY in the parking lot)

Compensation: No monetary compensation, but you’ll feel great what with the exercise, the festive atmosphere, the plentiful food and beverages, and the knowledge that YOU WON’T HAVE TO HELP US RAKE IN THE SPRING.

HELP US START A NEW FAMILY TRADITION. COME TO LEAF-A-POOLOOZA!

Kings Ridge pool is open for guests this weekend

Kings Ridge Pool (one of the pools with a reciprocal agreement) has informed us they will be open an extra weekend this year.  They are offering guest passes for $5 if you would like to get some last minute swimming in before the season is completely closed.

Kings Ridge will be open this weekend from  11-8 on Saturday and 12-6 on Sunday.

Enjoy

Early Closing at 5pm on Last Day!!

This is just a quick reminder that Labor Day is the last day the pool is open for the season (boo hoo).

The pool will be closing at 5pm on that day.  We certainly enjoyed the summer!

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

LISTEN UP:  POOL SEASON AIN’T OVER TIL THE KIDS GET FREE ICE CREAM AND LEMONADE.

So come on over to Sideburn Run pool on Sunday, September 4, for a last fun afternoon for the whole family.  Here’s the lineup:

4:00 The Great American Egg Toss Tournament (with age divisions and prizes). Divisions will be 6 & under, 7-9, 10-12, and 13+.  Only one member of the team needs to meet that age requirement–so even your youngest can compete and toss an egg to Dad.  (Moms, I highly recommend pawning off the young kids on Dad.  Just saying, is all.)

4:30 Limbo and other games (if time allows).

5:00  Ice cream sundae social. Each child is entitled to a free ice cream sundae from our sundae bar.  We will need several parent helpers for this one (scoopers, topping administrators, cherry placers–please, just offer yourselves up when it’s time). Also note that in deference to our members with food allergies, we will not have any tree nuts or peanuts at the ice cream sundae bar.

5:30 The Last Happy Hour.  For Everyone. We’ve got a whole bunch of lemonade for the kids and a wide variety of  beverages for the adults.  Plus, rumor has it that one of our board members is putting together a special song list that fits the “end of summer” theme. Hark, is that Don Henley I hear crooning in the background?

Please note that in case of rain, we will postpone to the next day, Labor Day, starting at NOON.

See you there!

Friday Happy Hour, 8/26: Great American Songbook

This Friday at Sideburn Run pool, we’re dedicating happy hour to the classics: Wonderful American songs, those great ballads your parents listened to, the ones that make you want to take your sweetie by the elbow and slip into a slow dance, fly yourself to the moon, leave your heart in San Francisco, etc etc.

In honor of the lovely melodies, we’ll kick the happy hour fare up a notch: A bit of wine, some cheese and olives, Cosmopolitans at the bar.

See you there, sweetie pie.

P.S. Mark your calendars for the End of Season Social at the pool Sunday, September 4 at 4 pm. We’ll have games for the whole family (including an egg toss!), ice cream for the kids and, at a respectable hour,  a last happy hour.  Bring a picnic and settle in for a fun evening.  Rain date Monday, September 5, at noon.

Happy Hour: Eighties Mania

Join us at the pool Friday, August 19 for an Eighties-themed happy hour.  That’s right, girls, we found some wine coolers!

Happy hour starts at 5:30. Beverages are free but donations are welcome; all money collected goes directly to the next happy hour … which, if you’re wondering, will feature the Great American Songbook. Stay tuned.

Cheers!

Happy Hour Friday Aug 5: Soul Night

Please join us at the pool pavilion on Friday for refreshments, sweet soul music and good company.  As always, you can bring your drink back to your table or chaise while you watch the kids play.  It’s all cool.
